After graduating with his Masters of Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria in 1996, Samuel Oboh worked on various projects in Africa and North America. In 2003, he immigrated to Canada with his family and began to establish his architectural career in Canada almost immediately. Three years later in 2006, Oboh, along with other architects, established the first provincial chapter of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in Alberta. In 2007, Oboh was elected as President of the chapter by their executive board.
